UOAlive Day 417: Starter Mage Suits, Resource Gathering, and More!

This morning I was found yet again at the Community Rune Library, filling up the repair bench.

Some more plants at the Emporium were ready for cross-pollinating, so I took a few minutes to do that.

I checked my Luna Moongate vendors, as well. A few alchemy kegs sold, so I made a note to make some backup stock before heading off to... you guessed it, hunt hiryus.

This time around I made a point to grab as many LRC mage gear as I could find, with the intention of making some quick and easy starter suits.

That turned into a failure. I couldn't make enough suits with enough LRC to satisfy my wants, and there were already starter suits on Vendor Search for 10k.

While digging a little deeper into what would be required to make my own starter suits, I realized I had more than enough ingredients to imbue LRC onto horned sets, much like another vendor who used to sell suits in his castle west of the the Luna Moongate. The owner's house has gone greatly, so I worry he may have quit the server.

After a few hiccups with getting all of the ingredients together, I put together several mage suits and started a vendor for them. I think someone else already makes suits, as well, so this is just to ensure availability for newbie mage players.

I then ran some more daily escorts.

Then I mass converted wool to cut cloth in preparation for some mass T-BOD filling.

I decided to stop whining about the BOD Box changes and attempt to get more Large BODs the old fashioned way - filling a ton of small bods and some RNG! I still have a decent stash of cloth small BODs, and as long as I start using my harvester's blade when I hunt hiryus, I should get enough regular leather.

After I got bored of Tailor BODs, I attempted to solo a trove treasure map.

My poor beetle saw the other side of life due to the initial onslaught of guardians.

Trying to solo play within the confines of UOAlive's multiboxing (ie, don't do it) rules makes some tasks a lot harder for a bard like me. I'm not interested in building a strong 'main' character, though someone who can hold their own at champ spawns would be nice. Believe it or not, for all my years played I've never had a Sampire. What are they, exactly? What do they do that makes them so ridiculously powerful? Is there a Sampires for Dummies handbook that walks me through how to make one without using a bunch of acronyms that melee players know, because I don't LOL? I've only ever had mages or crafters, with a spattering of tamers and bards.

In any case, I kept getting frost dragons and an already difficult treasure chest ended up taking me nearly 45 minutes to clear. Maybe next time I'll stick to lower tier chests.

My partner has recently started playing again, so we've been working towards getting him a larger home. For now, though, he enjoys a tiny brick house near the Emporium. :)
