UOAlive Day 409: Mass Gate Scroll Crafting

More hiryu hunting was done this morning. I'll be happy when fame hunting is something I don't have to worry about any more.

I also did my daily escorts for Compassion.

I decided to plant a few green thorns in the swamp in the hopes of getting the specific vines I've been using to decorate the walls of the Emporium. Unfortunately, I didn't end up with the vines I needed.

I've been noticing text like this, alongside some lightning looking graphics along the ground, in various places I've visited. Initially I thought this was in relation to the Skull of Power quest, but upon reading Discord and general chat I discovered it's in relation to IDOCs. I haven't attended any IDOCs since 2022, so I have no clue what IDOCs are like nowadays.

I took some time to craft a bunch of Gate Travel scrolls, since my stock is getting pretty low. While I crafted the scrolls, I caught up on the forums and Discord just to make sure I haven't missed any big news.

UOAlive Day 408: Silver Serpent Venom

Yet again I was found hunting hiryus in the morning hours. There are probably better mobs to hunt for fame, but I find this pretty relaxing and mindless to do while I'm waking up for the day.

After hunting, I hopped on my crafter and attempted to fill some BODs to turn in for vendor restocking. I was disappointed to discover the change in BOD boxes - each Large BOD can only be used once in a box. Seeing as getting the specific BODs I need for specific rewards is such a pain, I don't think I'll be keeping my T-BOD vendor stocked much any more. If I do, I'll probably have to adjust the prices to be even higher to compensate for the difficulty in keeping stuff stocked. Now my BOD books will continuously fill with T-BODs as I hop on my crafter to claim BODs every day in the hopes of getting higher point BODs.

I took some time to fill a large cooking BOD and get myself another fermentation barrel. One of these days I'll try to make some plum wine. What I'll do with it, I don't know, but I've always enjoyed some of the more menial crafting in UO.

I spent some time in Ter Mur hunting down silver serpents for their venom. The areas I found with them aren't very abundant with snakes, so I'll have to find a better location one of these days.

UOAlive Day 407: Hodge Podge

This morning I went through and restocked the plant vendors. They seem to be selling well at their new 250gp per price point. I don't know if I'm going to set up a vendor with the Naturalist colored plants. I think they may be better suited to turn the plants into dyes, first.

Today was also a plant harvesting day. These plants take a while to harvest, but the process is a lot easier now that when you collect seeds it'll collect all 8 in one go.

After that, I planted the next round of seeds. Maybe this time I'll remember to cross pollinate them. :)

I ran some more escort quests and managed to achieve Follower of Compassion.

I took some time to mine some sand for venom vials. I've been meaning to stock up on natural dye resources, so this will help me in that endeavor.

I also managed to achieve Follower in Sacrifice. This is where my virtue gains will greatly slow down. Hopefully I'll be knight in both Sacrifice and Compassion by the end of the month.

Before logging off for the night, I took note of how crowded Brit bank is. It makes me happy to see so many people on! General chat is usually bustling with activity whenever I'm on, as well, so there aren't just a bunch of people AFK Britcoin farming on.

UOAlive Day 406: Vendor Restocking

While checking my Luna Moongate vendors, I noticed a tent nearby. These tents are wonderful starter homes for new players, so I was happy to see signs of a healthy playerbase.

My Tailor BOD Reward vendor sold quite a few items (including an accidental triple-stack of cloth, oops! Hope they enjoyed the discount!) so I restocked that before moving on with my day.

I checked the Emporium vendors before hopping off for the day. I missed cross-pollinating my plants, which is disappointing. I need more white and black plants, and cross-pollinating for me is easier than constantly running the Naturalist quest.

UOAlive Day 393: Mail & Inscription Stocking

This morning I found a surprise Treasure Map in my mailbox. I should take the hint and run some more Treasure Maps one of these days.

Today, however, was a limited playing day. I restocked my inscription goods vendor and moved onto other things in the real world for the rest of the day.

I appreciate the work the admins have put into adding an in-game vendor sales history. I no longer have to run the script one of the community members wrote in order to see what's sold. This even shares who bought each item, which is awesome. This way I'll be able to see if I have any frequent buyers.

UOAlive Day 391: Hall of Heroes

I had a short day of play today. Snow informed our guild that Yellow has opened the Hall of Heroes and is interested in our guilds' participation in placing statues.

I can't place my own statue, as I don't have access to the house, but I did claim a marble statue maker and test out the various poses. One of these days I'll have to reach out to Yellow to get my statue put in.

UOAlive Day 389: Short Day

My morning was spent hunting hiryus until I had about 10,000 fame.

Once I finished hunting hiryus, I found a succubus in Fan Dancer Dojo and sacrificed my fame. I don't know if succubi are the best mobs to sacrifice my fame to, but this is how I've always done it and I'm a creature of habit.

I finished out my short day of playing by checking on the Emporium vendors and plants.

UOAlive Day 388: Virtues & Eye of Malas Grand Opening

The beginning of my day was spent planting more seeds. I decided to split planting across two days to prevent myself from getting overwhelmed on my next plant harvesting day.

Upon finishing my planting duties, I went on another hiryu hunting spree for fame to sacrifice.

My virtues have decayed quite a bit since I last consistently played, so I opted to put some work into them again.

Farming Justice was easy enough - I just went to Ocllo and murdered a bunch of murderers for about an hour before I was back at Knight of Justice.

Sacrifice and Compassion will take a while to get back up, as they have a cap in gains per day.

I ran a few escort quests to get my daily Compassion before moving on to other things.

One of those things was taking stock of my wallet. Before my break, my vendors were consistently selling higher priced goodies, giving me a comfortable amount to work with. Each of my other accounts have over a million gold each, as well, so I'd say I'm in a good spot gold wise.

Getting my Sacrifice up to Follower should be easy enough. I can usually get through Seeker in two sacrifice sessions.

By this point it was late evening and I realized I was missing out on the Eye of Malas grand opening, so I halted everything else and ran to catch the tail end of the event.

Everyone was playing dice, drinking, and being merry when I arrived. This was a more RP-centric event, so I stayed pretty quiet. It's been many years since I've done any UO-based RPing, and my most recent RP experience is via Ark:Survival Evolved and using voice chat instead of text-based roleplaying. I haven't even hashed out my characters' backstories besides establishing that they're probably related. Maybe some day I'll sit down and think about that.

I got a neat goodie bag for attending the grand opening. The bear and dragon wall decorations are awesome - I don't have their spawn location in my Rares runebook, nor did I know they were a thing. It's wonderful how expansive the custom daily rares are on this server.

We finished out the night with more drinks and goofing around before heading our separate ways. I think those of us who attended the grand opening receive automatic VIP status, but I'm not entirely sure. I'll have to read into the event and invite information to confirm.

UOAlive Day 387: Emporium Vendors & Rares Fail

The beginning of my day was spent finishing up the Plant Emporium vendors. While doing that, somebody in general chat requested some pet rezzing services. I'm noticing all sorts of unfamiliar names in chat nowadays. It makes me sad to no longer see some older names, but I'm happy to see that the server still seems to have a healthy playerbase.

Setting up the vendors was a pain with the monitor I currently have. I kept placing the vendors and stock in the wrong location. I believe I still have one plant vendor set flipped around. I'll fix it later, if I remember. :)

I also got around to setting up the Luna Moongate vendors again. Yet again vendor search seems to be lacking in availability/options for scribe scrolls, and this time around I've noticed that the going price for scrolls seems to've dropped. I'm not sure how I feel about recall and gate scrolls going for the same price, but I've already made my profits off of my old scribe goods; I'm just a vendor fiend and love selling things.

The server restarted for a patch and I attempted to do a quick daily rares run. Unfortunately, one of the locations was swarmed with mobs and my poor beetle and I found ourselves in the land of the dead. That took all the wind out of my rare-grabbing sails and I opted to forego grabbing the rest of the spawns.

Instead, I ended up at the Emporium planting my next round of plants. I'm hoping to cross pollinate this batch so I can replenish my white and black seeds. While doing so, I noticed some vendors announcing their goodies being sold. Woot!

Eventually I hope to add in more peculiar plant vendors. That will require more hunting of mobs that drop peculiar seeds I don't have many of.

UOAlive Day 386: Trauma Hiccups & New Computers

I live! Evidently, I had a lot more trauma to process (and reflect at the world and people around me) than I realized. This culminated in a temporary change of environment (including drastic change in timezone), a hospital stay, and some much needed heart to hearts with various people in my life. Now that all of that's out of the way, though, I'm feeling much more myself and ready to get back into the swing of things!

I recently acquired a new-to-me computer, so the beginning of my day was spent setting up all of my general macros and settings again.

The next order of business was pulling plants at the Emporium. As I was doing this, I figured I may as well rip the bandaid off and start working on the vendors. Since I'd been absent so long, all of my vendors have gone on strike, leaving their wares in the moving crate. Initially, when I'd noticed everything was gone in April, I thought I'd lost all of the stock as well. Fortunately, that isn't the case.

It took several hours to sort through the moving crate and get about 60% of the vendors set up before I had to hop off for the night. I noticed there weren't many plants on vendor search, so I've decided to bump up my plant offerings to 250gp per. It's still decently cheap, but I'm not as in the red selling the plants as I was before.

I'm not entirely sure what my game plan will be for the next while. I'll probably take it easy as I get back in the swing of things. I know my virtues have sadly decayed, so I'm going to have to take a day to do that. I also need to set up the vendors at the Luna Moongate house again, but that's a Later Me problem. :)
