UOAlive Day 45: Escorts & Plunderbeacons

 

More escort quests have happened. I've tried to make it a point to escort somebody whenever I see them.

Attempting to murder murderers in Ocllo

While exploring the cities for achievement points, I came across several murderers in Ocllo. Apparently they give Justice, but these guys are tougher than I expected and in my current suit I can't easily handle them.

The crew decided to hunt down some plunderbeacons and pirate ships, so we spent a few hours sailing the high seas and running through a ridiculous amount of resources. I don't think we would have made it without all the resources we've been getting from the IDOCs.

We're aiming to throw all of our loot into one of us so we can quickly get the fellowship coins distributed to the group.

UOAlive Day 44: Fish Monger, Compassion, IDOC

More fish monger quests. I've gotten a 105 fishing powerscroll, several baits, and numerous useless books.

In between fish monger quests I've started scouring ice island for NPCs I can escort to town. I've decided to start working on my compassion, which allows me to resurrect people with up to 80% of their health. It comes in very handy during big group events that could get stuck in a cycle of death.

One of the rewards I received was a lava lobster trap, which would allow me to go lava crab & lobster fishing. I spent some time in Ter Mur near some lava and tried to fish a few times, but found myself bored of handling just one trap. I'll return here once I have several lava lobster traps.

At this IDOC, I started training my detect hidden, tracking, and hiding skills on my tamer. I ended up falling asleep before the house fell, but we got some decent decorating items.

UOAlive Day 42: Dungeon Fishing

I managed to complete the crab quest I had this morning, and promptly got a dungeon fish quest. So I've spent all of today fishing across whatever dungeon fishing spots I can find.

This is one in Shame that I quite like. There are long shorelines and in some areas minimal to no hostile mobs.

This is another spot, in the Underworld. It only has 4-5 fishing spots, depending on where you cast your line, but it's incredibly peaceful so I've spent a good chunk of the day sitting here and waiting for the fish to respawn.

UOAlive Day 41: Fishing Adventures

 

I continued fishing up SOSs for a bit this morning. Unfortunately there seem to be a lot of leftover nasty mobs in the water that I really don't want to fight against.

This is one of those mobs. Scalis. Obviously someone either accidentally summoned him or tried to take him on and he proved to be too much. So for now I need to be careful whenever I'm west of the Sea Market in fel.

Purple Britannian ship

I've been wanting to run some fish monger quests to earn a 120 fishing powerscroll, so I went ahead and spent the Sovereigns on a Britannian ship, then dyed it purple.

These quests are a pain if you get crabs/lobsters or dungeon based fish requests. There aren't many safe dungeon fishing spots on the server, and the refresh time is incredibly slow.

I did, however, manage to snag myself a 110 fishing powerscroll. It's not the 120 I was going for, but it's a start.

Of course I ended up with a particularly tricky crab quest. So far I've been crab fishing for around 8 hours and I don't even have half of the crabs I need. I ended up getting off for the night before I could finish the quest.

UOAlive Day 40: Seeds and Fishing

I spent some time killing seed bearing mobs to see if I could get a peculiar cactus plant. No luck, so I'm thinking this server doesn't have colored peculiar plants implemented.

I did some more fishing for the tournament, then took some time to fish up most of my SOSs I've received while fishing. There's an SOS loot drop off spot at my Luna moongate house now.

UOAlive Day 38: Spell Woven Britches

I managed to get this after running a few quests in Heartwood. We need more eyes of travesty to craft these, but at least we know one of us can make it if we get the ingredients.

UOAlive Day 37: Fishing Tourney & Shadowguard

Our beetle gang is growing. Soon we shall take over the server, buahahahhahahahahahhahah!!! *evil cackles*

As a major heatwave is hitting Europe right now, the admins have decided to run a fishing tournament. It's running for a few days, so I'll probably fish around if nothing else is going on over the next few days.

We ran Shadowguard a few more times. Nothing good dropped this time around, but we've really perfected the process so it takes less than half an hour to do a whole 'round'.

UOAlive Day 33: Triple IDOC

 

Today we had three different houses go IDOC at the same time. One of them was a house at Britain Moongate, which Nick wanted. The rest we were solely interested in for the loot.

I ended up setting my 3 accounts at each of the IDOCs and layered my play windows so that I could see all three houses. We ended up getting some decent gear, more scrolls, and some stuff to use for Clean Up Britannia points.

UOAlive Day 31: Plants Begin

I've begun growing my initial plants for seeds to start the cross pollination process. I still haven't seen any hints of the 'cactus' seeds that give the breedable cactus plants that lead to colored hops, spider trees, and bonsai. I guess I'll have to test some more and then submit a bug report.

UOAlive Day 26: Pendants

 

I finally got a Pendant of the Magi recipe. It worked out, because the crew have been figuring out the Travesty mechanics and we wanted to kill her a few times today.

We've started taking over Brit Bank when we AFK for Kudos. It's been really nice all hanging out together.

Travesty was fine, until she decided to copy my skills. I had intentionally not brought Discordance into the fight because I knew that was a big no-no in case she copies me, but we didn't realize that a peace/provo mage bard is still nothing to scoff at. "I" kept provoking the animals onto Haha, and peacing him so he couldn't do anything about it.

I ended up bringing my tamer and a cu I wanted to train just to get some training in. I finished our Travesty runs, about 8 total, with 100% training so I just need to allocate those points.

Since we also needed white pearls to make Pendants, I got to fishing. I was able to make two pendants and left them in the guild house for the crew to grab.

UOAlive Day 24: Doom Day

The two monthly hues were changed. I may dye some stuff with the yellow, but that grey doesn't intrigue me enough to dye anything.

The crew have taken to 'griefing' me at my Luna moongate house by placing random stuff around the house. I think I'm going to leave the stuff for now, as it gives the house character.

Most of the day was spent running Doom with the crew. I didn't get anything but as a whole we did get a few items we were after.

UOAlive Day 23: Luna Invasions

 I've started hunting across many swamps to collect seeds for my eventual plant emporium. I haven't gotten any seeds for the cross breedable peculiar variety plants, so I may have to submit a bug report about that. Some more testing will need to be done.

I finally got a Scrapper's recipe. It ended up being useless for us, as we were able to get another player with the recipe to make us several. We also need to run Travesty in order to get eyes.

Luna invasion event on UOAlive

The monthly Luna invasion event is going on, so I've been taking some time to kill the creatures here. I don't know if the big boss drops anything nice, but I've gotten many event tokens and a few random powerscroll deeds.

One of those random powerscroll deeds gave me a 120 musicianship scroll, so I went ahead and ate that.

I really like the way Luna is decorated. I wish I had been playing while this event was going on in earnest and the players had a chance to save Luna. The players at the time weren't able to solve the mystery so that's why Luna is still like this. I'm curious if Tr1age will revisit the storyline and allow those of us who are playing nowadays to have a hand at saving Luna.

On one hand, I would enjoy that just because it's a mystery to solve. On the other, I've quite enjoyed Luna not being the main hub of the server.

UOAlive Day 22: Stocking Up

 

I've started gathering reagents, bottles, and blank scrolls in earnest. Throughout the day I'll periodically recall to many of the mage shops across Britannia and stock up on whatever they have.

In between this, I've started doing Heartwood crafting quests to get recipes and crafting talismans.

I also did some more hiryu hunting to fund my reagent buying. I got a green hiryu to spawn that I wanted to try and tame on my tamer.

Unfortunately, I still don't have good resist stats and my tamer kept dying without being able to tame the hiryu. I ended up having to ask Snow and Balf for help.

UOAlive Day 19: Poor Connection Day

I got a wild hair up my butt and decided to try and run the Friends of the Library quest. My suit is awful, and my resists are all below 30, so I kept dying while trying to get to the speckled scorpions I needed to kill for part of the quest. I did finally get the sacs I needed, but after sitting down and doing some math on what I'd need to do to get a few of the crafter's talismans I wanted to get from the Library, I decided to forego the talismans for now.

Poor rural internet thousands of miles away = triple digit ping.

My ping ended up being awful for most of the day, so I spent some time making cloth. I tried to do a few SOSs, but my ping was making playing unbearable so I called it an early night

West Brit Bank on UOAlive

I've decided to move my characters to Brit Bank for Kudo AFKing. Brit Bank is a nostalgic place for me, and the only reason I moved to Luna was because that's where the activity moved eventually.

UOAlive Day 18: Training My Tamer

 

While we waited for an IDOC to fall, I finally started my third account and used a few alacrity scrolls to work on my tamer.

I'm disappointed in myself for waiting so long to make this character. It ended up not taking long at all, under 3 hours, and I was mostly set up to get going on my tamer. Waiting so long also means this account will be well behind the other two in veteran rewards. I want those seed boxes, dangit!

The IDOC fell and we got some decent decorations and scrolls for ourselves.

 I set up a semi organized drop off point for all my SOSs. Some of these chests have really nice graphics. I want to figure out a way to use them when I decorate at least one of my houses.

UOAlive Day 17: Naturalist Seeds

 I had an easy day and decided to run a couple of Naturalist Quests to start working on my naturalist seeds. I don't have any green thorns so I'm limited to rare pink, turquoise, and magenta seeds.

Nothing else was done in UO today. I played some AoTTG with Alex and continued getting seeds.
